Overview

Charter Construction has earned a reputation as one of Nashville’s most trusted commercial contractors for nearly 40 years. Known for their steady leadership, collaborative culture, and commitment to doing right by clients and crews alike, Charter approaches every project with care and craftsmanship. Their work speaks for itself. Their digital presence needed to do the same.

Opportunity

Green Apple began partnering with Charter to implement new marketing initaitives in 2024. Through that relationship, we saw firsthand how deeply their culture shaped their business. They are practical. Straightforward. Relationship-driven.

Their website, however, didn’t fully reflect that story.

The previous site functioned as a basic online presence, but it lacked the clarity, personality, and flexibility needed to support Charter’s growth. More importantly, it lived on a proprietary platform. That meant Charter didn’t fully own their website or digital assets. Future updates, migrations, or redesigns would be complicated and constrained.

As the existing vendor prepared to sunset the platform, the timeline accelerated. Charter needed an immediate solution, but they didn’t want a quick fix. They wanted a long-term foundation.

Green Apple was brought in to lead a full rebuild; a strategic reset that prioritized ownership, flexibility, and a brand experience that truly felt like Charter.

Key #1: Ownership, Authenticity, and Strategy First

Before we talked design, we talked about identity. Green Apple led discovery sessions with Charter’s leadership and internal team to surface the language they naturally use every day. Their words shaped the copy. Their personality shaped the tone. The goal was simple. The site should feel like you’re sitting across the table from the Charter team.

We also addressed the technical foundation. We moved away from the restrictive proprietary system and built a fully custom WordPress site. Charter now owns everything — the files. code, and content. This shift created independence and peace of mind. Future updates are easier and growth is simpler.

The result is a site that doesn’t just describe Charter’s work. It reflects who they are.

Key #2: A Human-Centered, Modern Experience

With strategy in place, we focused on experience.

Charter wanted a clean, crisp digital presence. Something timeless. Something confident. They referenced brands known for simplicity and thoughtful design.

So we built with intention.

We used bold headlines and larger, more digestible content blocks. We prioritized white space. We removed visual noise. Every page has room to breathe.

Photography plays a central role. We partnered with Aerial Innovations to capture updated employee and office imagery so visitors see the real people behind the projects. Edge-to-edge visuals and jobsite photography create depth without overwhelming the user.

We layered in subtle motion and parallax elements to add dimension while keeping the experience intuitive and fast.

From a content standpoint, we focused on clarity over clutter. We simplified dense pages. We strengthened the messaging hierarchy. We introduced a refreshed color palette that feels confident and modern while still grounded.

Every decision served one purpose. Make the site easy to use. Make it feel human. Make it unmistakably Charter.

Someone who knows Charter should land on the site and think, “Yes. This feels like them.”

Results

The new site gives Charter a digital presence that finally matches the strength of their reputation in the field. It feels confident. Clear. Grounded. Just like their team.

Just as important, Charter now has full ownership and control. With a custom, non-restrictive platform, they can update content easily, expand into new markets, and evolve the site as the business grows without technical limitations or vendor lock-in.

While performance gains will continue to build over time, the biggest impact is already clear. The website now functions as a true business development tool, not just an online brochure. It supports conversations, builds credibility, and gives the team confidence every time they share it.

For Green Apple, it’s another opportunity to put our philosophy into practice: We don’t just launch websites. We partner with clients to build strategic foundations that grow with them for years to come.
